Arkonac Burak MD

Burak Arkonac, M.D., FACC, is an interventional cardiologist with more than 30 years of patient care experience.

Dr. Arkonac is dual board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He specializes in vascular interventions, percutaneous aortic valve replacement along with complex coronary interventions with left ventricular assistance devices.

After earning his medical degree from the Istanbul School of Medicine at Istanbul University in Turkey, Dr. Arkonac completed his internal medicine residency and a cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He is also a graduate of the molecular cardiology fellowship program at Harvard University’s School of Public Health in Boston and of the interventional cardiology fellowship program at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Prior to joining AtlantiCare Physician Group, Dr. Arkonac served as director of the cardiac catheterization labs and interventional cardiology for Northwell Health, Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, New York.

Rashmikant Desai, MD, joined the medical staff of AtlantiCare Physician Group (APG) Cardiology in September 2012 after more than 30 years in private practice.

Dr. Desai completed his medical education at B.J. Medical College, Gujarat University, India, in 1971. He then completed his residency training in internal medicine at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center and his fellowship training in cardiovascular medicine at Deborah Heart and Lung Center.

Dr. Desai is dual board certified in cardiology and internal medicine. In addition to the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Desai is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and several other professional medical societies. He is fluent in English, Gujarati and Hindi.

Haitham R. Dib, MD, FACC

Dib Haitham MD WEBDr. Dib is the founder and senior partner of Atlantic Cardiology.  He graduated from Damascus University Medical School, Syria in 1986.

He received his Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine training in New Jersey, and his cardiovascular training in Pennsylvania.  He returned 12 years ago to serve the people of South Jersey, where he currently resides with his wife and their 4 children.

Dr Dib’s main clinical interests are:  Consultative cardiology, Cardiac Catheterization and implantation and follow up of pacemakers.

Dr Dib has been serving as Chief of Cardiology at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center since 2009.Dr. Dib treats a patient

Mohamed H. Elnahal, MD 

M_Elnahol_webDr. Elnahal completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in 1991 and finished his cardiac pacing fellowship at UMDNJ Beth Israel Medical Center in 1992. He graduated from Cairo University Medical School, Cairo, Egypt, in 1981.

Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Pacing and Electrophysiology, Dr. Elnahal is a recipient of the Physician’s Recognition Award with Commendation for Self Directed Learning, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Elnahal began at ARMC in the Division of Cardiology after completion of his pacemaker fellowship.

Anthony Flynn, MD

Flynn Anthony MD WEBDr Flynn is a native of Southern New Jersey.  After receiving his B.S. from Georgetown University, he attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, earning his MD degree in 2005. 

He served his Internal Medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, then completed his cardiology fellowship at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He holds Board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology.

His primary interests are noninvasive cardiology and echocardiography.

Mitul Kanzaria, MD, MS-HQS, FACC

Kanzaria Mitul M MDMitul Kanzaria, MD, MS-HQS, FACC, completed his undergraduate education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He then attended Albany Medical College. He completed his residency in internal medicine, fellowship in cardiology and sub-specialty fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. During that time, he completed his Master of Science in Healthcare Quality and Safety at the Thomas Jefferson School of Population Health.

Dr. Kanzaria is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, and Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions, and American Society of Echocardiography.

Dr. Kanzaria has special interests in coronary interventions, peripheral interventions, general cardiology, and echocardiography. He is also interested in healthcare quality and improving patient safety.

Dr. Kanzaria lives in Galloway with his wife and two children. He is an avid skier and enjoys bike riding.


Ejaz Khan, MD, FACC

Khan Ejaz M MDEjaz Khan, M.D., FACC, is an AtlantiCare heart specialist with nearly two decades of patient care experience. He treats atrial fibrillation (A-fib) using his advanced skills and training in electrophysiology to help restore a normal heart rhythm in his patients.

Dr. Khan’s areas of expertise include common and complex A-fib ablations, device implantation and management, and management of patients with heart failure. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and electrophysiology.

Dr. Khan’s specialized medical training includes an electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Maryland in Baltimore and a cardiology fellowship at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. He graduated from the Khyber Medical College in Peshawar, Pakistan in 1993 and completed a residency in internal medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse thereafter.

He has an active interest in clinical research in this field and has contributed to several medical journal articles focused on advances in cardiology and electrophysiology.

Howard Levite, M.D., MBA, is certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. His special interests include coronary angiography, interventional cardiology and its appropriate use, structural heart disease, and medical management and prevention of coronary artery disease.

From 2003-2015, Dr. Levite served as Medical Director of the Heart Institute and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. From 2015 to 2017, he was Director of Cardiology at Northwell Health - Staten Island University Hospital in New York. He also served on the full-time faculty of New York University (NYU) Medical Center and School of Medicine for more than 25 years.

Dr. Levite earned a medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics. He completed a cardiology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in New York and fellowship training in interventional cardiology and angioplasty at NYU Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Levite earned an MBA degree from City University of New York, Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business.

He is past president of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for central and southern New Jersey and is a member of the Cardiovascular Health Advisory Panel to the New Jersey Health Commissioner. Dr. Levite is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and the American College of Physicians.

Vinesh Patel, MD, FACC


Dr. Vinesh Patel earned his internal medicine training at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. He completed his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Robert Wood Johnson University in New Brunswick, NJ. He completed his Fellowship in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology at Deborah Heart and Lung Center.

Dr. Patel is board certified in Cardiovascular Medicine and is recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Saugato Sanyal, MD, MBA, FACC

Sanyal Saugato MDSaugato Sanyal, M.D., M.B.A., FACC, is a board-certified cardiologist that brings more than 30 years of patient care experience to the AtlantiCare provider team. His areas of subspecialty include echocardiography, pacemaker and implantable cardiac devices (ICD) management, and transesophageal echocardiography, including three-dimensional echo.

In addition, through his specialized training and experience in internal medicine and nephrology, Dr. Sanyal has expertise in caring for patients with advanced heart failure who also have kidney problems.
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree in India, Dr. Sanyal completed a residency in internal medicine at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He then joined fellowship training in nephrology at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 2003, Dr. Sanyal earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. In 2003, he also joined the cardiology fellowship program at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York and completed this training in 2006.

Dr. Sanyal is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is board certified in cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In addition, he is a diplomat of the National Board of Echocardiography and is board certified in nuclear cardiology.

Timothy Slaven, DO


As a medical provider for AtlantiCare Physician Group (APG) Cardiology, Timothy Slaven, DO, sees patients for general cardiac care and specialized cardiac procedures. He is highly skilled in cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac stress testing, temporary pacemaker insertions, and intravascular ultrasounds. He also specializes in the oversight and reading of Holter monitor studies, echocardiograms, and nuclear stress testing, and more.

Dr. Slaven is board certified in cardiology and internal medicine. He earned a doctor of osteopathy degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in Illinois. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Slaven completed both an internal medicine residency and a cardiology fellowship at Midwestern University.

In addition to the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Slaven belongs to the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association and is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists.

She completed her internship in Neurology and Neurosurgery at Sinai Hospital Baltimore, Electrophysiology at Johns Hopkins, and Post CU surgery unit at Union Hospital Baltimore.

Donna is certified by ANCA, Acute Care NP and is a member of American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Donna has a special interest in Cardiology and has been in practice for just over one year as APN, and over 30 years as RN – Critical Care.

Jonathan Tardos, MD

As a cardiologist specializing in the field of electrophysiology, Jonathan Tardos, M.D., focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias). His areas of expertise include atrial fibrillation (AFib); supraventricular tachycardia (SVT); slow heart rhythms, including heart block; and life-threatening heart rhythms, including ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF).

Dr. Tardos is highly experienced utilizing state-of-the-art technologies for arrhythmia monitoring, detection, intervention, and treatment. He performs complex catheter based ablations including cryoablation. He is also skilled in the implantation and monitoring of loop records, pacemakers, and defibrillators including biventricular (3 wire systems) and subcutaneously implanted devices.

Dr. Tardos attended The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, graduating with a distinction in research. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City. After completing his fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, New York, Dr. Tardos continued his training with additional fellowships in clinical cardiac electrophysiology and advanced ablation clinical electrophysiology at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dr. Tardos worked for two years in private practice prior to joining the AtlantiCare Physician Group cardiology team.

He is board certified by American Board of Internal Medicine in the fields of internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. Additionally, Dr. Tardos is board certified by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. He is a member of The Heart Rhythm Society, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Medical Association.

Jeffrey E. Van Hook, DO

He attended medical school at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey- School of Osteopathic Medicine, earning his D.O. degree in 2004.  He completed both his Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular fellowships at UMDNJ-SOM where he also served as Chief Fellow.  He has completed an interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular fellowship at Cooper University Medical Center, Camden, NJ. Dr. Van Hook is Board Certified in both Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. 

Dr. Van Hook  is bringing a new experience to our area with the newest techniques and advances in radial artery  catheterization and the latest advances in peripheral interventions. His interests include coronary angioplasty and stenting

Viren R. Vankawala, MD, FACC

Dr. Vankawala is board certified in six areas of specialty: Cardiovascular Diseases, Internal Medicine, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac CT and Pacing and Defibrillation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Vankawala is the Director of Non invasive Cardiovascular Laboratory and Associate Chair for Division of Cardiovascular Diseases.

Dr. Vankawala received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Government Medical College in Surat, India.

He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. Vankawala completed a Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut.
